Band Five First Lesson
Satin Stitch Rectangle
After finishing Band Four skip down four fabric threads and center the Satin stitched rectangle on your fabric. Use Ecru Perle Cotton # 8 to stitch it.
Band Five Cutting the Threads
To finish the Satin stitched rectangle you are going to cut the fabric threads. Get a pencil and make sure the Klosters are sharing the same fabric threads . Draw very lightly along the fabric thread to insure that the Klosters line up top and bottom and side to side before cutting any fabric threads. The pencil will rub off on your perle threads, but you can get a white eraser at the office supply store or a quilt shop to remove the marks. Lay your fabric on a flat surface to erase the marks.
Please read Beginning Hardanger if you are unfamiliar with the technique before you begin this chart. CUT THE FABRIC THREADS MARKED BY THE PURPLE LINES. Remember that you cut two threads at the corners. Two thread Klosters are allowed!!!!! Next Lesson ©2000, Linda Fontenot, www.AmericanFolkArts.com www.OvertheMoonDesigns.com
