Padded Satin Stitch
Each line represents a fabric thread.
First I do the Satin stitches horizontally across the design by going from right to left with horizontal Satin stitches,
![]()
then starting at the right side of the design area do the top Satin stitches vertically as shown by the lettering. The Padded Satin stitch is also a way to bury thread tails when you do certain lace stitches such as Reticula, Ruskin Lace, Drawn Thread and others. The procedure is the same if it is for a row or motif. ©2001, Linda Fontenot, www.AmericanFolkArts.com
